Set wallets to 'empty' for Nokia 5800 Star Trek Edition!

by Ernest Doku

Nokia is about to make a lot of Star Trek fans ecstatic by announcing a limited edition version of the Nokia 5800 to co-incide with the release of the J.J. Abrams-helmed reboot of the hallowed sci-fi franchise.

Stuffed to the gills with Star Trek themes, ringtones, a 'Phazer' app and wallpapers, the handset will force fans to boldly go to their local Phones4U store (in the UK, anyway) from May 1st 2009.

The Nokia 5800 Star Trek will be available in the three familiar handset accents of blue, red and silver, and will be available for free on a £25 a month contract to any of the major networks.

With ringtone names like 'Phazer Shot, Kelvin Communicator' and 'Red Alert,' I think this handset is purely for the real Trekkies among us...

Anyone seen the movie yet? The jury is out on whether anyone is quite as amazing a Kirk as William Shatner, but have heard good things about Sylar as Spock and Simon Pegg of 'Spaced' fame in it, which is good enough for me!
