Nokia's Marketshare in the US Market

by Darla Mack

Plummer_2 I've been fond of Bill Plummer ever since I first caught his video on CNBC where the interviewer attempted to pry something negative about the iPhone from his lips.

When Bill speaks of the industry he does so with a passion for the company that new and long-time consumers can appreciate.

What intrigued me to this clip was the opening question prior to Bill's introduction.  "If Nokia sales are so strong, how come Nokia smartphone isn't a well known name like Blackberry or iPhone".  That is a question that I myself have heard and even became topics of discussion on message boards such as Howard Forums.

My response, although not asked for, was simply because Nokia doesn't have anything to prove.  I can guarantee that you will appreciate Bill's answer far more than mine.  But it is one of the first times that I've heard the question actually addressed... and what better gent to address it.

The full video clip can be seen on the Business News Network and if you have a high-speed connection and don't want to sit through the rest of the communtaries, move the counter to 38:40 which is around where it starts.

This is probably one of the nicest VP's I've ever seen on TV. Having met Bill in LA at the "Nokia Unlock" event this is as real as it gets. Absolutely no fake-factor. It's good to hear that Nokia is working on a broad range of devices but hear me cry when I say - WHERE ARE THE 3G devices for T-Mobile.

He doesn't even address the question! All he says is that Nokia reaches a broad range of customers and that they ship a lot of phones. Nokia has poor marketing in North America and a hard time working with the carriers.
