First Flash-Free Diablo Update Released
by Matthew
The first Nokia Internet Tablet update since Diablo OS2008's release, a little over a month ago, promising OS updates without flashing was released today. Update 4.2008.30-2 is 13.7MB in size; also available Maps 2.2.8.453-1, a 4.9MB update. Both updates downloaded OTA (I used 3G) and installed without a glitch.
The OS2008 update prompted and recommended a backup before proceeding, then warned it would reboot upon completion of the install. As foretold the N810 rebooted and loaded normally. All my settings and preferences, both OS and 3rd party applications, appear to be 100% intact. After reboot I have been able to use my device as before.
If this is how updates will proceed in the future I applaud Nokia for their efforts. Updates this easy make the Nokia Internet Tablet one step closer to being a device for everyone not just the technologically savvy. Kudos Nokia on a job well done!
I received this notice this morning and kinda shrugged for a second thinking that I would have to set up my N810 again but after the download, the tablet rebooted and everything is still intact. Couldn't be more happy. It will be said countless of times but this would be great if the same method can be on for s60 devices.
