Nokia N95 v20.0.015 Officially Available
by Darla Mack
I woke up this morning and plugged in my N95 using the Nseries PC Suite. This is the message that popped up, so I'm assuming that the new version is now available.
I'm not brave enough to update my N95. Lol yeah call me chicken, but just wanted to let you know that the update is available.
According to the notes on AllAboutSymbian:
- New Welcome application
- New camera software and tweaks from the 8GB model - FAR faster shot to shot time, with 'Processing image message' during any delays
- Long press on camera button launches camera if shutter is open
- New My Nokia SMS tips and mobile web portal system
- Demand paging (for ROM applications) with 30 plus MB free RAM after booting.
- Search 4.0 integration on standby screen.
- Old multimedia menu still there, i.e. it's not the new style
- N-Gage game previews (FIFA, Asphalt) and portal/shortcut to upcoming N-Gage client, as in N81 and N95 8GB
- Nokia Music Store client, although the store server hasn't been updated to handle the N95 yet - maybe this'll happen later today
- Keypress bug gone(!), I think
- No
auto-screen rotation, looks like I was wrong predicting this, so we
need Samir's RotateMe after all - someone please help him get this
signed ASAP!
I might try and tackle this later on but let me know if this was successful for you.
NOTE: Nokia N95 Software version 20.0.015 released - 26 November 2007
This software version includes battery, stability & performance improvements enabling you to run faster and longer - giving you up to three more hours of music (up to 30% increase, from 9h to 12h of music playback). This release also includes a new version of Nokia Maps which provides faster positioning, faster Map Loader, and free 3-day navigation. Free N- Gage demo games are included and other games are available via Download! With the Nokia Music Store now live in the United Kingdom, users can enjoy the convenience of instant over-the-air downloads, regardless of where they are.
After updating your device software to 20.0.015, and restoring your personal data, you can optimise the menu layout by installing the New_Menu_Structure.SIS file. This file will rearrange your menu layout specifically for SW 20.0.015. Reboot your device to see the menu changes.
EDIT: I decided to be a brave girl and start my N95 over from scratch!! Ricky and Steve Litchfield swear by this method so I guess I'll give it a go.
Darla,
Please let everyone know that this firmware includes the new Nokia Maps application that Nokia has REMOVED the START TRACKING feature from!!!!!!
BEWARE OF THIS FIRMWARE UPDATE GUYS!

My colleague installed the update already, and it seems to work fine except for the search app which crashes on launch. The camera app seems really cool and a lot faster - nice! I'll have a go at the update some time this week, can't wait to get demand paging.

Note - This is not for the US Version, RM-159 (C7.01). Both the Nokia "Check Your Software" website and the Nokia Software Updater still give 12.0.013 as the latest firmware available. :(

I have updated my N95,bought from CPWH UK, which showed the new firmware as not yet available earlier today. But after NSSing with product code Euro 1 plum, all updated and much quicker now...with that sweet sweet RAM at start up!
Oh what a joy!

The new firmware rocks. Finally I am close to 'very satisfied' with my N95.

This is really irritating. I had to download the Nokia Software Update all over again and try it. The software size was 23.8MB. But it says there is no update available for my phone with firmare version 12.0.013! Quite weird! I downloaded from the nokia site. Where else do everyone get the v20.0.015 of the firmware?

Update is wonderful. Noticable increase of battery life, camera much snappier, generally faster (due to more free memory?)... updating is cordially recommended.

Dear Friends.
There might be some of you, unable to upgrade to the v20 for the n95 yet.
I have a solution (as i did the same to get the upgrade).
Use the nemisis software to change your phones code to (0548298) .
And went on to update my phone version to v20.
After installing the new update, i used the nemisis suite to change my code back to the original code(The original code can be found printed on the sticker inside your phone).
It worked just fine . And i now have the latest v20 firmware working great on my phone, even though it wasnt available for my original code
All u guys with similar issues could download the nemisis suite at ( http://thenokiablog.com/2007/05/12/h...the-nokia-n95/ ) .
Just remember to change your code back to the original after the update.
Have fun.
