A Brief Look at the Nokia N95 US 3G, PT. 3 - Build Quality
by Darla Mack
Basically we know of the size and modifications between the Nokia N95 variants, so this is going to be a short post.
I'll start by saying that my N95-3 is made in Finland. Since its a proto it does sound a bit 'jiggly' but that can be overlooked. I remember when the N95 first came out and hearing that when people were on calls you could hear a creak in the device. This isn't the case with this particular unit, but you can't expect perfection... lets be real about that.
As you can see there is no difference in size between the 2 devices.
One thing that I almost overlooked was that the keypad lighting is different. The N95 has blue keylights while the N95-3 has white. I honestly prefer the white, but if I could change it to pink you know I would! Lol reminds me of my old LED light changings on my 3390.
Another part thats been changed is the battery cover. Not that it matters but some people like myself switch sim cards quite often. This can be torture on the battery cover. The cover of my N95 is now being held in place with a piece of scotch tape due to my constant sim-switching. The tabs on the N95-3 seem a bit more sturdy and there are also not as many. Only 2 little prongs as compared to 4.
Another slight change that I overlooked (thanks Romanov) is the placement of the cam's LED flash on the back. As you can see in the comparison image they are in 2 different spots. Functionality is still the same, just the placement is different.
Nice comparison darla. Can you give a comparison of the keypad backlights compared?
Keep up the great work.

Hey Darla
"can't expect perfection"? I hope you're kidding! I returned two N95s before giving up and going back to my Treo 750 because I wasn't happy with the creaking and wobbling. We should absolutely expect this to be perfect build quality at the prices we're going to be paying! Hopefully the production units will have sorted this out.

Just wanted to point out Darla was mentioning on the "proto type." NO proto is perfect, hence the name. As for final product, I can agree with you. Thanks for the post Darla!
