PC Suite for Eseries

by Darla Mack

Pc_suite_eseries_2 Nokia has released a version of PC Suite for its Enterprise Edition devices.

Features included in Nokia PC Suite Enterprise Edition:

*  Content Copier
*  PC Sync
*  Phone Browser
*  Application Installer
*  Contacts Editor
*  Text Message Editor
*  One Touch Access
*  Launch Application
*  Connection Manager
*  Get Connected Wizard

So now we have 3 versions of PC Suite.  Although both Nseries and Eseries devices work on either the Nseries and Eseries PC Suites I guess its up to personal choice as to which one you use.

PC Suite for Eseries can be downloaded here.

This seems to be the best combination of functionality and sleek looks. Nseries's PC Suite was nice looking but the lack of contact and message managing was horrible. I think I'm gonna go with this Eseries PC Suite, even though I'm using the N73 you gave me =)

What the heck is an E62i ? :)

Wow... I didn't even notice that! I don't know why it shows up that way, but its an E61i. Hmmm, interesting.

Interesting that the IT ADMINISTRATOR GUIDE FOR Nokia PC Suite Enterprise Edition 6.83
(the PDF installation guide linked on the same page)
has the following licensing restriction at the end (last page):

This product is licensed under the MPEG-4 Visual Patent Portfolio License (i) for personal and noncommercial use in connection with information which has been encoded in compliance with the MPEG-4 Visual Standard by a consumer engaged in a personal and noncommercial activity and (ii) for use in connection with MPEG-4 video provided by a licensed video provider. No license is granted or shall be implied for any other use. Additional information, including that related to promotional, internal, and commercial uses, may be obtained from MPEG LA, LLC.

So, apparently you can't use it to download any phone videos for commercial uses. Pretty important distinction on a business-oriented "Enterprise Edition" package.

So... what makes this different from the NSeries version? and what do these two variants do that the old PC Suite don't do (apart from looking different)?

Shouldn't all these variants be part of the main PC Suite? I have an E70 and in a few days an N95 too, so which do I choose, if I'm trying to be 'right and proper'?

Ok I'm a dork... that was a mistype on my part when I named my device. What sucks now is that I'm unable to change it via PC Suite.
