Want Some Push To Your Email on Your S60 Device?

by Darla Mack

Logo_seven_cc3333 I'm no stranger to SEVEN's Email solution, but it had seem to be one of those great ideas that somewhat vanished between 2nd and 3rd edition S60.

For those that aren't aware, SEVEN Email solutions offers the ability to have push-email capability to yourS60 v3 devices.  I've installed the app on my N95 and it works great!

Now what I like about this which differs from just having your email settings in the standard messaging section is that you have the ability to open the email and view and click on links, reply to a highlighted number by calling or sending sms.

Currently SEVEN supports Pop/Imap, Gmail, Yahoo, AOL and soon Hotmail/MSN.

The application is free and the sign-up process is easy, although I would suggest instead of sending the app to phone, download to PC and transfer yourself using USB and PC suite.

Other devices supported include:

  • Windows Mobile 5 Pocket PC (for example: Cingular 8525, Treo 750w)
  • Windows Mobile 5 Smartphone (for example: HTC 2125, Cingular 3125)
To sign up and get started, click the link!

Seven slows down my E70 , not recommended

Jeb

Do I need to have an exchange server? Or can I use it with my POP work email? Also what do people think of using this on an E61?
Last question, how many email accounts can I use this free beta version with?

Eric (aka Heybige @ HoFo)

DMack - Actually, the links don't open (at least on my N95) - a few of us are having issues with that and it's been reported to the SEVEN admins.

Jeb - POP works fine. In fact, the SEVEN app is running four address for me, two POP, one IMAP and one exchange.

Jeb

Eric,
Thanks for the info. I will give it a try later today I think.
How does it work with syncing my contacts and calandar? I am not using exchange.

Eric (aka Heybige @ HoFo)

Jeb - unfortunately I don't think you can sync to any non-exchange calendars/contacts.

Darla

@Eric,

Yeah thanks for the heads up on that. I've been to the SEVEN's community forum, so I'll watch for the output from there and try and update here.

Are the emails pushed to you free or do you need to use your data connection to pull them down? I cant find anywhere on website that states either way.

Cheers

Peter

Jeb

What phone model should I use on my E61i? I just got it yesterday and want to give Seven a shot.

Jeb

Hi guys. I just set up Seven and kind of like it. It has one big problem I have already noticed. I can't set it up to use my Access Point Groups, only one single access point. This sucks because I like to use my home wifi first then any open wifi network then lastly my data from ATT. Am I missing some setting?

ted

works great with w61i

Hi everybody !

Interesting application !

Does it show mail in the active stand by as E65 & E90 do ?

Thx :-)

Jeb

I'm still thinking about 7 and that I want to use it. I have one big problem still, I can't mark as read or delete more then 1 email at a time. Am I missing something?
