Some N800 Essential Applications
by Darla Mack
This weekend I spent some time trying to fiddle around with the N800. I posted a pic of me being lazy in bed watching The Devil Wears Prada using the built in Media Player. I still have to figure out how that works because I had to convert the movie to 3gpp format.
Some things that I felt necessary to have is a screenshot application and a decent PIM calendar manager. Why is there no built in calendar on the N800? I understand that yes this is an Internet Tablet, but even out PC's and Lappytop's have calendars.
Anywho... while Googling from the N800 itself I came across 2 solutions for what I was looking for.
Maemo ScreenGrabber by Tuomas Kulve
Performs basic screenshot functions. There isn't an application that opens. Once you go to your extras and click the app title it will automatically take a screenshot in 5 seconds. Unfortunately, there isn't a way that I've found to select a file folder to store the images to by default, so I had to move the images to my internal memory card.
GPE Pim for N800 by fl0rian
Very nice layout and easy to add entries, but I'm still trying to figure out how to import MS Outlook entries.
More to come...
