Game Addictions and Mishaps [rant]

by Darla

During the Nokia Open Studio event in NYC participants were given N80 Internet Editions to follow and participate in some of the events extras.  These special N80ie's came with some preinstalled apps such as the Nokia Media Charger which I didn't get to check out.  One of the challenges of the event was making the high score at a game called Tower Bloxx by Digital Chocolate.

Tbx_ani "Reach the skies in a wacky skyscraper construction game that tests your reflexes and puzzle skills! Build brand new homes for Tower Toons™ who move in before they even have a roof over their heads. It's a test of skill - the faster you drop new floors, the happier they'll be. But it's windy up there, and mistakes can cost you a bunch of floors. Casual, one-button game play makes building skyscrapers fun and easy for everyone, but it takes practice to really master Tower Bloxx™ and build out the entire city block!" ... via TowerBloxx site

Ok so heres the problem.  I've become addicted to the game.  I play it on a daily basis.  There is even a Holiday edition out as well called Santa's Tower Bloxx.  Now according to the website the game(s) can be purchased by any US carrier and the list of supported S60 handsets include the E61, N70, N80, N90, N91 all of which we know are not carried by Cingular.  So, um, how does the developers expect us to get the game?  Cingular's Media Mall has Santa's Tower Bloxx in its list of games but trying to download and install it won't happen.  Apparently Cingular's favorite message is "your platform does not support Java".  Go figure.

I tried to download it to the E62 (even though the company site says E61) by the methods shown on the site but it says that its not supported.  I've contacted Cingular which to me was a definite waste of breath.  (sigh)

So what is the solution in this case.  Are the developers even aware of the situation?  Or maybe I just move onto a more supported addiction.  (once again, sigh)

My suggestion to Digital Chocolate... start offering the games for purchase directly from the website.
