Nokia PC Suite 6.8 Issues
by Darla Mack
If you've been following Jukka's blog you will see some of the issues that people are encountering with the newest version of PC Suite. Since its release there have been several sites mentioning certain issues. Maybe I hadn't noticed it before with previous versions but these things have come to my attention.
One of the things that I don't like is that they removed the ability of creating wallpapers with the Image Converter seen in previous versions. It seems that the update was to improve the music capabilites for NSeries devices but there are still supported handsets. I used the Image Converter for my CDMA 6255i. I know there are other tools out there, but it was just handy to have.
There also seems to be lack of support for utilizing more than 1 S60 handset. Using the Connection Wizard for the first time you can select which handset you would like to use with PC Suite. Some support files are installed to the device such as MMS Support, SMS Support and PC Suite Support, which aren't offered separately. Now if you try connecting another device the files don't get installed. I'm not even sure what the files are for or what they do, but if they are an important part of using PC Suite maybe they should be provided.
As far as the Music Manager, I like it, however, if you've noticed it is missing certain functions. Possibly the most noticeable is the Gracenote support for CD ripping. There have been comments that maybe its because of the handset thats connected, but CD Ripping is a stand-alone function. Shouldn't matter what phone is connected if you chose to use the Music Manager on its own.
In any case, here are a few sites for PC Suite discussions with known issues and installation problems.

Hi. I tried ripping a cd to my nokia n73 yesterday using PC Suite but it said that it couldn't read the cd. I am particularly thick about these things...any suggestions. It is a CD I bought in South Africa...could it be encrypted?
I really want to download it.
I have the latest version of PC suite by the way.
Cheers
Adam
