Nokia 7280 Review - Viva Glam!!
by Darla Mack
As promised, my 7280 review is done. I enjoyed using this "accessory" and let me just say, that besides the glamour this phone does have function.
One of the first noticeable things about the 7280 is the minus of keys. Instead , the phone is equipped with a unique Navi Spinner (no number keys, only Select, Send, End, and 2 soft keys). I thought that it would be hard to get used to not having number keys but its actually not bad once you figure out how to maneuver around with the rotator.
The Basics:
The Nokia 7280 is a Series 40 Triband phone with Intergrated VGA camera, XHTML browser, FM radio, Infrared and Bluetooth Technology and Voice Activated User Interface and Video Streaming amongst other features.
The Glam Factor:
The black lacquer casing makes this phone as fashionable as the woman that possesses it. The hint of red just makes it even more glamorous especially if you have the right shade of nail-polish and lipstick to match! And don't even get me started on the mirror... thumbs up on that essential!!!! It was odd watching this little mirror turn in to a clear functional screen, and although small, the fonts and graphics are crisp enough to not bother the eye.
This accessory also comes with a few accessories of its own. A sleek leather carry case and hang strap. Even the home charger had a touch of fashion savvy with its hidden compartment for the cord.
The Function:
Sliding the phone open reveals the hidden VGA camera and also allows calls to be placed.
Placing a call was also not as difficult as expected. Just press and hold the middle selection key and use the spinner to locate the number on the bottom of the display screen. There is also a menu option called Number Entry which you would use the Navi Spinner to select the numbers then the select key to place the call.
The earpiece is covered and top of the phone are covered with small "grip" strips of black felt which makes it comfortable if you do happen to hold the phone to your ear.
The Dial:
I know people have their preferences as to keypads and such, but honestly, I had no problem at all using the rotator to maneuver around the phones menu. It's like anything else... once you get the hang of it works flawlessly for you.
Customization:
Although a Series 40 phone, the 7280 comes with its own pre-installed theme packs including wallpapers, tones and screensavers. All fashionably matchable to the phones appearance.
End Result:
Now my opinion on this is different from other handsets that I've reviewed, only because this seems to be more of a Female type of gadget... so I apologize to all the guys out there for not taking the "techy" approach.
I didn't want to bog down my blog with images do I've listed the photos in my gallery.
