I AM A Journalist

by Darla Mack

Whats the difference between bloggers and journalists?  This morning I subscribed to I-Symbian's forum and was stumped at the occupation question?  (why is it important to know one's occupation in the first place?)  I'll admit, I'm un-employed, which doesn't mean much either.  Even if I were employed, the field that I'm in is never listed on anything I've seen.  Lol how hard is it to just put "freelancer" on something?
I felt that I was in fact a jounalist, not by employment, but by hobby because, well, that is what I do.  I submitted the question to my fellow Mobitopian's and Glass re-assured me that yes indeed I am a journalist.  "You publish stuff for others to read".  Well then thats what I am.  I guess it depends on what level of writing or information is the determing factor between jounalists and bloggers.  I write for myself, by myself.  I have no deadline, I have no outline.  I can be quoted, misquoted and even bashed.     So with those concepts in mind, then I would have to totally agree that I am indeed a journalist.

Edit:  I've just been reminded by Kermit Woodall of PDABuzz.com that I DO have a deadline!!  EEekk!!
