Nokia Invites You to the Neighborhood
by Darla
Did anyone quickly think back to that catchy tune from Sesame Street? "These are the people in your neighborhood"... maybe I'm just showing my age again. Nokia has created a warm comfy spot where consumers, enthusiasts, novices and experts can come and share their thoughts, ideas and concerns with "the people in the neighborhood.
Over the years I haven't encountered a company that has stuck true to their tagline of "Connecting People" and with almost every move they have managed to do just that.
In their new (soon to be released) endeavor, Nokia has created Nokia Conversations, which is a new site targeted not so much to the tech side of their devices, but more-so the inside of the company.
Nokia Conversations is led by Charlie Schick who has been no stranger to putting fingers to keys and belting out decent blog posts on his own site. In my personal opinion, Charlie made Lifeblog popular and introudced users to the integration of Lifeblog and Typepad... maybe thats why I stuck with it for so long.
In a brief excerpt of their introduction post which you will read once the site goes live, Charlie had this to say:
We're here to cover stories from all around the Nokia neighbourhood - it’s about the people, products and services, thoughts, interests, business and beyond. It is about the stories you tell or comment on, or simply want to read.
And this is not all talking and no listening. This is about conversation: We need to respect those who speak to us and about us. We need to listen carefully, without being defensive. We need to speak openly and honestly. We are a participant in the conversation, not the drivers.
A definite release date has not been giving, but "coming soon" has been said. I congratulate the efforts of the team behind Nokia's social media and although one of my initial thoughts were "what took you so long?", I'm glad that Nokia has decided to invite us ALL to their neighborhood.

What about Mr. Rogers? Didn't he have the neighborhood? Won't you be me neighbor?
