Are you a Gypsii?
by Matthew
Gypsii is yet another player in the extremely crowded SocNet arena. Gypsii is interesting in that it is available on a number platforms unlike some others focusing on the mobile element. Like most SocNets its about connecting with yours friends, in this case however Gypsii is more about your real life friends (strange concept I know).
Gypsii aiming to be more than just another a SocNet its focus is on location, location, location. There aren't a lot of people on this one yet, which may limit its functionality and usefulness in the near future. If you can convince a few friends to give it a try, it will be worth your time. I was able to locate a few people I knew but probably not enough to be useful or compelling quite yet not to mention the program mapped me several miles off my actual location. Gypsii's main idea is based on posting and sharing images or events based on location. Not sure how well that's going to work if the location, which is meant to automatic using GPS equipped devices i.e. N95-3, is so horribly wrong. Locations can be set by a user which makes Gypsii not different than such sites as Plazes, twitter, Flickr, Facebook, where incidentally they already hand out.
If Gypsii can gain enough momentum and reach critical mass among mobile SocNet users it could be interesting and fun to not only to see what's happening in the lives of friends but where its happening.
