Widsets Rolls Out Cool New Client With Updated Features

by Darla

For those that have been keeping tabs on the Widset's blog and forum, an announcement was made yesterday about the cool new features coming to Widget's.

This morning, Widset's rolled out its new improved client which includes many new features:

- Mobile studio. You can create simple widgets in the mobile end
- Push Email widget. Totally revamped email widget
- Open in browser. You can easily open any widget content in the mobile browser
- Bookmarks. Also readable in the mobile end
- More simple homepage on widsets.com and widsets.mobi page for mobile use
- New functionalities in content search in the Library (mobile and web)
- Improvements to the speed of WidSets
- Banner advertizing in the mobile client
- Clear chached data

I'm very happy at the fact that now if I chose I can open a page in my mobile browser, however in doing so this closes the application.

Kudos to the Widset's team for the cool new features!!!  Feel free to leave comments and suggestions on either of the sites highlighted above.

I'm surprised that WidSets closes when you open your browser. If your running an S60, WidSets should run fine in the background (obviously on Series 40 phones multi-tasking isn't currently possible). What phone are you running WidSets on?

But when are we going to see Widsets client for N810?

Lucian

@WebSeed: It is a memory issue. Widsets eats a lot of it and the browser is also very hungry. You can use Widsets in background but eventually it will be terminated to free the needed memory.

@Maciek: There is no [official] support for Java on Maemo based devices.
