Nokia Lifeblog is Giving Me Grief!!!!

by Darla

Ok I've asked this question on the discussion forums and N95 users that I know.  Now I'm just getting frustrated.  Hopefully there is someone out there that is encountering the same issue as me and if so please chime in.

When I updated my N95 to the recent firmware it did something to the Nokia Lifeblog application.  When I open the app on my N95 I get an error message saying 'Cannot Access Lifeblog Database'.  I figured I'd try and create a database using the PC client, but when I connect it I get an error messages saying 'Lifeblog now installed on the device'.  HELP!!

The situation in itself isn't a good one, especially if you are a fan of Lifeblog, but looking for a solution and coming up with nothing isn't good either.

I figure a search on the Lifeblog site would give me some answers and maybe even being able to download and reinstall the app would be a solution.  When searching the site and trying to download the compatible version with my device it says that 'Lifeblog is already installed on your device'.... but that isn't the case.  At least thats not what the application is telling me.

Why isn't there a downloadable client?  Is it because Nokia is afraid that Eseries users will try and install it on their camera-equipped devices?  That's a totally different rant entirely.

Lifeblog PC client has been updated to version 2.5, but the device client (on some) is still 1.0.  Could this be the problem?  If you update one shouldn't you update the other?  Speaking of which, I tried hard resetting the device but that didn't help.  I also tried reinstalling the fw update and that didn't help either.

Can someone give me a valid solution?  Oh and Nokia... can you PLEASE make the device client downloadable from the web?  Thank you and have a great Monday! :)

Yeah- this sounds like it's being a real PITA for you! Hopefully I have found a solution that might work for you and any of your readers experiencing the same problem. Regarding the 'Cannot Access Lifeblog Database'error message- apparently others have solved this problem by deleting the lifeblog directory located in c:\data on the device. I'm guessing that it sets the database back up the next time lifeblog is run, correcting what I assume is a corrupted DB. At anyrate, the c:\data directory is hidden, so you'll need to use something like y-browser from http://www.drjukka.com/.

Hope that helps! Cheers.

I have exactly the same problem, I looked everywhere but since nobody else commented about it I thought that I did something wrong on my last firmware update (v12). I hope someone tell us how to solve this problem...

Hi Darla,

There are some downloadable clients available but not for all models.. If you go to the URL below you should be able to download the N80 version.. I used this fine on my N73 when it didnt come with the client.

I've come to dispise Lifeblog. Nokia has started to include it on the latest handsets. Worst yet you can't uninstall or remove it. If they want to make it available fine but don't shove it down our throats.

Hi
I had the same problem - I too use Lifeblog and have done so for years (I worked on its devlopment, so am biased;) not responsible for this problem tho ;)
anyway try removing the lifeblog folder in c:/data or e:/data and it should be ok - when you get lifeblog running, just select "Update Timeline" and you will be up and running....

@Si,

THANK YOU SOOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!!!!

I deleted the Lifeblog folder from the c:\ drive and restarted the application!! You don't know how happy you have made me!!!

Unfortunately in my haste to get this corrected I deleted all of the images from my memory card... including the pics and videos that I took of my son's birthday party yesterday. :(

I've deleted the lifeblog thing and i've plugged my phone in but it comes up on my phone 'unable to open database'!!!!!!! OMFG HELP PLEASE!!!!!

x

it worked for me too.....fantastic, i can now save all my cherished messages from loved ones!!!

Yes! deleting lifeblog on c:\data worked for me. When I opened lifblog icon and click from the option timeline update, it began to create new database link.

Thanks!
