Adding Vox and Flickr to the N75's Web Uploader

by Darla

As I mentioned in my review, the Nokia N75 doesn't come prefilled with the option to use either Flickr or Vox as a Web Upload service provider.  I found that odd since it is an Nseries device.  By default the N75 has no providers installed and because of that it makes it hard to manually edit or even add one.  If you attempt to input a Service Provider setting you will get a message saying "No Providers Defined".  Fortunately, Flickr and Vox have configuration files to do the trick.

FLICKR SETTINGS
To get Flickr up and running you need to grab the configuration file.  Right-click the link and save the file to your desktop.  Then transfer it to your N75 using BT.  Or, if you feel like typing you can enter the URL string into your mobile browser.

OR, to manually add Flickr, select an image in your gallery... go to Options > Open online service > Options > Settings > Advanced > Service Providers > Options > Add new provider. Once there you need to input these settings:

Service Provider = Flickr
Protocol = Atom (which is already prefilled)
Web address = http://www.flickr.com/services/atom/

Once entered Flickr will now be listed as a provider.  You can now go into My Accounts and set up your Flickr account.  Remember that you need to go to Flickr's configuration page to get your unique login information since it isn't the same as the info that you use online.

Since the N75 isn't listed on Flickr's page I just used the configuration settings for the N95.

VOX SETTINGS
When first opening the Online Service you will find that there are no services present.  Now unfortunately because it won't allow you to do anything without a provider available, you will have to go another route.  I found that the simpliest way to do this was to upload Vox's configuration file.

To quickly upload the configuration file, just enter this url string in your mobile browser.

http://www.vox.com/services/config/vox_configuration_file.cfg

Once you download the link you will get a message saying "File Saved to Online Sharing".  From this point we can now add a new Service, although VOX can no longer be modified or removed.  From this point you can now add Flickr as a provider as well.

I'm not sure if the Nseries team is aware of this, but it was a bit hectic to figure all of this out.  I had to grab the Flickr url from another device... lol but fortunately for myself and others we now have this fixed!

Don't forget about the Vox app! I find it much easier to use and better integrated than when using the Online Service config...
