Krisse Unboxes the Nokia 6290
by Darla
Krisse at AllAboutSymbian has received her Nokia 6290 and has shared its contents with us.
The Nokia 6290 has not been mentioned as appearing in the US, but has quickly been considered an N75 replacement by some interested Howard Forums members.
We look forward to your review Krisse!

Thanks for the link Darla!
I too thought of similar devices like the N75 and N76 when using the 6290, they seem to have roughly the same layouts and features.
When I used the Nokia website's Compare Phones facility for the 6290 and N76, the 6290 is actually better technically, especially the battery life. This is a bit odd, because the 6290 is substantially cheaper than the N76. Finnish shops are charging about €300 for the 6290 and €500 for the N76 (both sim-free of course).
The bulk of the cost on the N76 seems to go towards making it so thin, to compete with the RAZR, but if you don't particularly want a RAZR-like design then the 6290 seems to be a better, cheaper option.
The 6290 is a quad-band phone so it should work on practically any GSM network in the world, there shouldn't be a problem if Americans want to buy one sim-free from Europe. Don't know if the 3G will work there though, I think you have different frequencies for that?
But... wait until I've done the review. ;-)
