Nokia N95 FCC Approved for the US

by Darla

N95_fcc_1 I don't know how I missed this, and I guess this is also one of those times where "never say never" applies, but its true... the N95 has been approved by the FCC

Chatting with Matt Croydon, I didn't realize that this had happened around the middle of February, but it was recently posted to the FCC site around Thursday.

Woohoo!!  I know there are many happy Americans out there now!  US 3G with a killer device!!

Seeing that Cingular currently is the only GSM provider with 3G either completed or being implemented across the regions, I'm assuming that this is where it would turn up.

Price hasn't been determined yet, but seeing what the N95 price is now, I'm gonna say its gonna be a hefty hunk of change... then again, just because its approved doesn't mean we will see it any time soon... come on people, you know the drill.

Now only if it came in hot pink just for you Darla....lol

yep, happened first week of February

check out how the inside of the N95 looks like: http://www.ringnokia.com/2007/02/nokia_n95_disse.html

I must have been tired around that time, lol. PMC I would love to see a pink N95!

This device doesn't have US 3G. The specs say WCDMA 2100 only, which ain't happening stateside. Of course, that doesn't reduce my desire for the device at all.

The only device I've seen from Nokia that has UMTS for the US market is the N75. Who knows when that's going to come out, though.

yeah girl, I'm not seeing any US 3G, either. Rough stuff, I was jazzed. That N75 is looking more and more attractive.

The 3G band in N95 operates on 2100MHz frequency band.

Cingular 3G works on 850MHz and 1900MHz bands. I.e. N95 does not support
Cingular 3G.

Dear Nokia,
Please make a US 3G version of the N95.
Thank you,
--Steve

T-Mobile won a bid which has been approved by the relevant US authority for UMTS/HSDPA 1700 and 2100 frequencies, and they are going to take effect in 2007.

So will N95 benefit from 3G in the U.S. if it is used with T-Mobile?

Which US network would you plug an N95 it into? As soon as I can get one, I am 'consolidating' from a Cingular BB 8700, a Verizon Motoe815, (and a Nikon P1 shooter) to an N95 - all my accounts are expired. In NYC T-Mob and ATT both have decent coverage. Thoughts?
