An Evening With S60 Highlites
by Darla
There were so many highlights of the evening, auch as the winner of a brand new production N95, (congrats Alan), meeting several people... such as Phil who I've been dying to meet, Jonathan Greene, Mark Guim, Jan from MyStrands, Ganesh Sivaraman and Dan Shugrue of S60, Mikko Röntynen... and many many more.
Other than being able to play with devices such as the E90... which I have now given my opinion as the SEXIEST COMMUNICATOR EVER SEEN, the 6290 running FP2, finding out that unlocked E62's are sold at the Nokia store... I think the biggest highlight for me (besides those delicious shrimp puffs) was meeting Dean Andrews.
For those that don't know, Dean Andrews is the author of 101 Cool Smartphone Techniques (see sidebar under Recommended Reading). I've read bits and pieces of this book since it first came out, which at that time I owned my 3650. Copies of the book were given out tonight and I do hope that people read and give feedback or maybe even upated tips. The one thing that I forgot to ask was if there would be update to this, but I think Dean will probably be too busy with his new endevour.
A new edition to the S60 blog family has been added with Dean at the helm. He has joined the S60 blog community with his own blog titled Business2GO.
The evening was more about networking and socializing moreso than taking pics of devices... at least for me. But thats what parties are about... socializing.
My sincere thanks to Phil and Dan who did a damn good job at organizing and pulling this all together, and Nokia Store Manager and staff for all of their help and allowing the event to take place.

Nice roundup, thanks Darla... indeed that E90 is one sexy beast! I can't wait until a S60 shmoozfest takes place in Denver (hint).. c'mon Phil.. pack up your skis and head on West and I'll be glad to help organize A Colorado S60-lovein! Cheers

What? All those Nokia employees/reps/spokespeople around and we couldn't get you to squeeze an N95 release date outta someone?
You know don't you? ;)

Er, think you mean "Dean at the helm" not "Dean at the realm"
I'm still using a 3650 (got it from T-Mobile for $50 over three years ago, have been looking for a good upgrade for under $200 for nearly a year but am starting to question whether this will ever be possible). Would appreciate suggestions. Not likely to get 'em from the Nokia store until they open one in Boston. (At this rate I'll be an old man before they get here, but making the trek to NYC to go to one store seems rather lame. And expensive.)

I posted this question on hofo and figured I would pick your brain Darla. Just wondering if you were able to surf the web on that proto E90? I know AAS went pretty indepth with their preview but more feedback never hurts. I really think this can replace the 770/N800 as a webbrowser and of course add the phone/S60 aspect to it.

Sounds like a great idea! I'd love to visit Colorado, I've never been. :-)

My sincere thanks to Phil who did a damn good job at organizing and pulling this all together, and Nokia Store Manager Bil Spigner for allowing the event to take place.
Can't forget Dan "the man" Shugrue, it was a three-person team putting it all together on such short notice. Working with Dan and Bil was a real pleasure, those guys are great!

Hey Darla baby!!
I really enjoyed meeting you and everyone else at the Nokia party. (I'll post a write-up of it on my blog once my f*cking DSL starts functioning again!!!!)
You, Phil and the rest of the techgang should come back to New York and party more often!! Count me in on the fun when/if you do! :-)

Others are reporting that the N95 will be available at the Nokia stores in NYC and Chicago by the end of March. Darla, did you hear this? With Chicago only a six hour drive round-trip, I'm ready to fuel up the Diesel VW and pick up my N95...

I just spoke with Bil Spigner in NYC and he confirmed that the N95 will be at the NYC store within two weeks! Very, VERY good news!
He also said that it was released globally last week...?
