A Solution To The Built-In IM Client... Introducing Packetbox Chat

by Darla

Screenshot0006 Finally!! After probbing and prodding people for server settings there is finally a solution.  Symbian-Guru notified me of a forum post offering for joining the beta test of a new Wireless Village service called Packetbox Chat. (site coming soon)

Although in the really early stages of beta, the service is working extremely well.  Right now they are looking for 300-1000 beta testers to try out the service.  The one vice that I do have is that in order to sign-up you must provide your screenname and passwords to your IM clients.   Presently, they can only support one screenname per IM client, so if you are like me with more than 1 AIM user name I suggest you pick the one that you use the most!

Packetbox Chat currently supports MSN, Yahoo and AIM with future support for Gtalk.   The service users data-only or WiFi, so there is no fear of SMS charges.

To sign up send an email to BETA@PacketBox.com.

Have fun beta testing.

No one, and I mean no one, gets my password.

I thought the same thing at first, but was willing to give it a try.

Hi! I found your blog in MyBlogLog, I think it's great I'm reading it right now. Good work!

I feel the same. I'll wait for the final version or at least a more secure means of signing up.

Good to see this development.

Well, you could create dummy MSN account to test out the application. That's what I did.

Patricia

How do I configure that? I've been thinking and I couldn't find a way to make it work. I've got the new Nokia N76 but i still don't know what server is the one that I have to use??????
