Surrounded By Hidden PC Suite Registries?
by Darla
I remember back in the early days of my S60, Nokia came out with a Registry Cleaner program for PC Suite. At some point of installing and uninstalling several versions (this was also of course when each device had it's own version of PC Suite) registry files ended up stored somewhere on my desktop and I couldn't install a new version without uninstalling the old. Of course I thought I had done so but error messages told me otherwise.
In November Nokia came out with the PC Suite Cleaner. Nokia PC Suite Cleaner helps you remove unnecessary PC Suite-related files and registry information left on your computer after uninstalling PC Suite.
From the website:
The application does not install anything on your computer. It gives you following options to select:
- "I receive an error message": Select this option if you receive a message that a previous version of PC Suite is still installed or you have problems opening Nokia Connection Manager.
- "Problem using Nokia PC Suite": Select this option if you receive an error message "Operation could not be completed" when you open Nokia Phone Browser (File Manager). Nokia PC Suite Cleaner will register certain files on your computer.
- "Problem during uninstallation": Select this option if you can't uninstall PC Suite using the Windows Add/Remove feature or the uninstallation process freezes before it is completed.
- "Clean my computer": Select this option if it seems that there are unnecessary Nokia PC Suite-related files on your computer. Before you select this option, ensure that PC Suite has already been uninstalled or you have already tried the other options.
- "Analyse my computer": Select this option if you want PC Suite Cleaner to analyse your computer's registry and file system and search for PC Suite related information. PC Suite Cleaner will create several log files but it will not delete any information from your computer.

Bad news is that it crashes as soon as you run the removal!
