N76 Web Browser with Mini-Map
by Darla
While I'm still going through all of my images and video footage of the N76 preview, I wanted to share some screenshots that I found interesting.
For me, this was the first glimpse of the new Web Browser with Mini-Map. There are loads of enhanced features including the added Toolbar. To activate the Toolbar just click on an open space once the webpage is loaded.
As you can see in the above screenshots, the short cuts have now been made into a Toolbar within the browser for easier navigation. My Previously Used Links point to the most recent sites that I used without having to go back to Bookmarks to look for them. Since we all know how the Reload function works I won't go into detail, but its basically the same as on a PC or laptop. Once again in the past if I had to reload a webpage I would have to go into Options > Navigation Options > Reload. Once again, this is a much quicker option.
Once you open up a page the Toolbar can be used differently on that current page. For example:
The Page Overview feature gives you a full screen view of the page being viewed. Now of course not everything is shown but it beats scrolling around to get a feel of a full screen.
The Mini-Map can be moved across the screen to help find your way around and once you want to select a certain area you just click the middle button on the device to take you there. It will then zoom in on that area.
Let me just remind you that none of these functions are really new. As I'm doing this post I found that these functions can be accessed on other S60 3rd edition multimedia computers such as the N73. But what makes it different is that having the toolbar is much more handy to use and kills having to go back and forth between your page and the options key.
The Find feature works just as it says... it finds! Just type in the word that you are looking for on the page and the word will be highlighted for you with the options to find next and find previous.
Also from the Toolbar you can subsribe to a sites feed which will add it to the built in reader of the Browser.
