Nokia WLAN Wizard for S60 3rd
by Darla
Nokia has released a really cool WLAN notification tool for S60 3rd edition devices. Initially for the N80 Internet Editon the app can be used on any of the WLAN capable devices. The only downfall would be that the notification ticker would be missing from your active standby screen (as Tommi shows in this image).

While the concept seems like a great thing tfor Nokia N80ie users, there is hope that the application can be enhanced or updated to include all 3rd edition devices.
Tommi also notes that the location of the app might appear in different folders depending on your device. Mine installed to the My Own folder on my N93 but I moved it to the Connectivity folder.
The Nokia WLAN Wizard can be downloaded from here.

Darla, any idea why the network scanning feature can not be enabled in my wizard? I am using it on my N93 and it doesn't show the scanning option nor the entry on the standby screen. And yes, I am using the version 1.06 you are pointing to.

Nevermind, just read the article again and it seems that this is a feature of the N80i. Sorry for the confusion. Is the N80i already equipped with S60 3rd SP2?

hi. the n80ie is still s60 3rd edition. the integration of the wizard into active idle/standby is done specifically for this device. but it is reasonable to expect similar solutions in future multimedia computers... finally a hint for n80ie owners; press the centre of the multimedia key to access the download application. from here you will be able to for instance install GizmoVoIP, which offers you the option to make well integrated internet calls!
