Windows Live Messenger for S603rd Edition

by Darla

Screenshot0001 Looking for a free IM replacement for MSN using Agile Messenger?  Windows Live Messenger for S60 3rd Edition has popped up on the net.  Produced by Chinese company MIMM Technologies, Win Live Messenger just might be the replacement for Agile.

From what other forum members are stating the app works great although has some connection issues.  I myself had connection issues as well but it still might be worth a try.

Hi Darla,

I've been using EQO as my mobile messenger client. One of my must have apps for my N93.

http://www.eqo.com/mobileIM.php

Agile was a favorite until they started charging. I’m going to try the S60 3rd - Live Messenger now.

I downloaded this app as soon as I saw a posting for it yesterday and put it on my N73 - so far wrks fine. Not that I've used it more than a few minutes.

Faheem, did you try the download link above? Just download and install to you device using pc suite.

I got my windows live messenger mobile from the nokia chinese website, it's available on there under product support software apps for nokia n73. I'm having connection problems after about 30 minutes of use and a bit annoyed that it didn't come with a data counter as i'm tight with money I can't afford to spend too much and don't know how much data is uses.

@Jeffa
I think I covered that here:

I think the version on the Nokia sites might work better than this one. Thanks for pointing it out.

I downloaded MSN Live from the link provided on this site, but when I try to log in, it says, log-in failure due to mistyped password or username, I know i'm typing in the correct password and username, but can't sign in...any advice? I am trying to access this on my N80 through WLAN

i downloaded this verison of messenger on my phone but the annoying thing is that it doesn't show all of my contacts - half of them are missing! so i'm gonna try that EGO software to see if it makes any diffrence

I've been using the version from the chinese nokia site now for about a month, and just yesterday I get an error message saying that the service is now only currently available in mainland china, hong kong and taiwan. Apart from that it was a fantastic app.

Nate

I've got the same error message yesterday saying that the service is now only currently available in mainland china, hong kong etc. again yesterday. I had the message months ago, uninstalled everything, reinstalled from another download and it was ok. Someone in the know mind shedding some light on this please? Appreciate if you could copy to my email at benjamin.ong@ukf.net. Thanks!

Mine said it can't be used outside China or Hong Kong... :(

Same as mine.. "the service is not available outside china mainland, Taiwan and Hong kong".. E65 through WLAN..tried through 3G as well..same error..so boring..

Hi Darla,i have a nokia 7610, and I've tried to install Windows Live Messenger and I could install it. Can U send me a ling with I can do that??? Thank You

HEY ! I HAVE AN N95 AND THE MESSENGER INSTALLED DOESNT WORK ... IT GIVES SOME SORT OF A MESSAGE ABOUT ... CANT BE USED OUTSIDE MAINLAND , HONG KONG ... ! ! ! ???... PLEASE HELP.... YA ?!

About the "official" app:

The other week I saw an advert for Windows Live Messenger for S60 on a Helsinki bus for Sonera (I think), one of the Finnish operators.

Looks like they charge 5.90 euros a month.

http://www.sonera.fi/Puhelin+ja+liittym%E4/SurfPort+k%E4nnyk%E4ss%E4/Viihde/Messenger+k%E4nnyk%E4ss%E4#Hinnat

And looks like the Swedish TeliaSonera are also offering it.

And remember, when launching the app it says "In addition, your use of Windows Live may include a free trial period which is limited in duration." So don't be surprised if it suddenly cuts out for everyone!
