Ever Wonder How Nokia Phones Are Made?

by Darla

Visualinspection_1 You might not find this interesting but I did.  An article in BusinessWeek Online followed by a gallery walkthrough of the process on making a Nokia N70.

Link: Nokia's Magnificent Mobile-Phone Manufacturing Machine.

In 2006, mobile-phone giant Nokia (NOK) will handle more than 100 billion parts in its 10 factories scattered around the world. To put that in more comprehensible—if still somewhat mind-boggling—terms, it means that every day, from Mexico to Hungary to China, Nokia's giant production plants will take in an average of around 275 million components—and then spit out 900,000 finished mobile phones at the other end of the line.

The article is followed-up with a slideshow from the beginning of components and parts to the ending with a nice shiny new multimedia computer!

Great post, Darla! I always wanted to know how my N70 was produced. Also good to see that the human factor is still an important part of the production process and that not all companies think that outsourcing is the answer to all questions.

Hi guys,
I am a new member to this blog.i hope to find lots of nice information and also share mine here.
