Google Local for Mobile Now Available in Beta
by Darla
No more Google SMS, well at least for some. Unfortunately, Google Local is currently available for T-Mobile, Cingular, Sprint and *Other (whatever that may be). But we do know that Verizon, Nextel, Alltel and US Cellular are currently not supported, along with Blackberry or Palm Devices.
Google Local combines all the convienance of integrated search, detailed directions, movable maps and satellite imagery all into one cool mobile app.
Google Local can be downloaded via the mobile link provided once you enter all of your info. Now some phones aren't listed, but if you are brave enough to test them out if your phone is equally compatible with the listed phones then you should be good to go. The Nokia 6600 app works well with the Nokia 9300.

App is probably using TCP sockets, which requires the app to be "signed" by carrier. Wait and try again. Google should update teh download eventually.
