Hurricane Relief Benefit Auctions - From the Mobile World

The American Red Cross

A group of technology websites, including Geekzone, Phonescoop, Make
Magazine, Gizmodo, and AllAboutSymbian decided to run a series of
auctions of tech gadgets to raise funds for organisations helping the
rescue and support efforts in the region affected by Hurricane
Katrina.

Geekzone is running an auction of a brand new i-mate SP3i Windows Mobile
Smartphone as part of this work:

If you can help please visit their auction page and place your bid.

Bids start at NZ$150 (US$106.50) and will be open until Wednesday 14
September 10am PST (which is Thursday 15 September 5am NZST).

The Red Cross is very effective in using most of it's donations on relief programs. For the year ending June 30, 2004 (the latest figures available), the American Red Cross took in $3,233,617,000 and spent 91.1 percent of on relief efforts, 5.4 percent on administrative costs (including travel expenses for unpaid volunteers) and 3.5 percent on fundraising.
