ROK Player Simply Rocks!!!
by Darla
I'm sure if someone knew that making your own movies into DVC format to be viewed on small handhelds would be such a big thing... well, you know the rest.
Thanks to Bruce of RokPlayer I got to check out the first movie made using DVC technology. First up on the movie list is The Shawshank Redemption. Studying Criminal Justice in school I can't even begin to tell you how many times last semester I watched this movie, but its still amongst one of my favorites.
ROK Player offers full-length movies in DVC (digital video chip) format and plays in full screen on mobile phones.
Once the MMC is inserted in the phone, you will see the ROK Player icon on your menu. Of course the benefit of having a hot-swappable device is the less time that it takes to change mmc's.
Once you open the ROK Player you will see the listed movie and its file size. It's really hard to believe that all this time of trying to convert movies using other progams that ROKPlayer can slim it down so that it fits on a 64mb memory card. Opening the file from this location immediately opens the ROKPlayer.
Navigating throughout the player is very simple. The movie plays in 208 x 176 pixel meaning you have to turn your mobile sideways, which is no biggie. The navigation works according to the phones keypad and as you can see, the directional keypad shown in the design is what you would go by on your phones navi key.
So, in conclusion what we have here is the most unique invention in mobile entertainment. Clear Picture, Crystal Sound, Full Length and Full Screen movie on a ROK Patented Digital Video Chip.
ROK Player chips are now available to purchase from Nokia stores in the UK. Please visit the company's online shop to browse the complete range of chips.
I've already picked out my next chip which I'm sure will get me in trouble while I'm in class... but if you are into cartoons like I am, they have a chip titled "Toonfoolery, Vol. 1", which features one of my favorite cartoons, Ed Edd and Eddie as well as others.
