TheFeature :: Says Goodbye
by Darla
Anyone who is anyone in the mobile industry must know of, seen or have been a member of TheFeature.com. I myself was a featured member for a week!! (Yeah that was something big to me) Well, today The Feature announced that they are closing its doors.
"Five years ago, we set out to build a community to explore the mobile Internet. Now, that community is strong enough to move ahead on its own."
The Feature was launched in fall of 2000 and was the idea behind Nokia to have a independent, non-branded site to discuss the future of mobile communications.
I would personally like to say that the writers from The Feature never fell short of their views and opinions in their articles and that is very important when trying to get a point across. I would also like to thank some of the members that I was fortunate to chat with such as Carlo, Justin and Sean.
According to the article, some of the writers will be heading over to MobHappy. Russell Buckley has already scooped up Carlo Longino. I don’t know who wrote the final goodbye, but their quote was as professional and as graceful as you can get.
"Now is the time for us to step back, and let the conversation and community move forward on its own. It’s been a great ride, and we’re glad that everyone could join us. So, would the last one out please turn off the lights..."
I raise my glass to all of you for a hell of a job over the years!
