What Ever Happened to the Nokia MP3 Player?
by Darla
Ipod, Ipod Shuffle, SE Mp3 Player... yes these are all new. Seems like mobile manufacturers are beginning to play a role in todays portable music upcomings. But what ever happened to the Nokia HDR-1? Nokia's MP3 player was out about 2 years ago, before all of this portable music craze took off. People were still carrying around these huge portable cd players. Now that the music craze has gotten a bit of a blast, the HDR-1 is gone.
For those that have not seen or heard of it, its not the Nokia 3300 music phone that I'm talking about. Nokia made a cool device which was tiny and portable, operated with a mmc and also functioned as a headset but did very well as a stand-alone mp3 player.
Its not that I don't think the ipod isn't cute or anything (come on, it comes in pink!), its just I know how much time in the day that I have. 4gb of music is cool, but its not something that I would need.
The HDR-1 originally came with a 32mb mmc, but now with the larger mmc's available that means more storage space. Supported audio formats are AAC and MP3, and it also has a radio, however, I rarely use it.
The newer headsets that I've seen being announced by Nokia seem to allow listening to your phones FM radio and/or MP3 player via the headset. But the HDR-1 had all of this built in already. Lol, I was using a Nokia 3390 when I got this headset, but it is compatible with any of the phones that have the 2.5 jack.
I do hope that their will be a future revamping of this device, since I can't seem to understand why its gone in the first place.

its hideous looking!

Hi Darla,
I think you samrt enough, I see so many problems answer by you. Would you lik eto help me solve my problem reagrding HDR-1.
I cant use my player, the display olny show blinking "NOKIA" and same with the light.
But after I connected it to PC via USB, it works.
I can use the feature, and play the song, use the volume button and everything is normal.
But, if i took the USB from the player, suddenly it turned to the blinking mode :)
So, I only use if the player connect to PC.
