Symantec Antivirus for Symbian (Nokia)

Symantec, creators of Norton's Antivirus, have released a Mobile Edition to their popular PC Security Program.  Currently, it seems that the application is only available for the following Nokia handsets:

• Nokia 6260
• Nokia 6600
• Nokia 6620
• Nokia 6630
• Nokia 6670
• Nokia 7610
• Nokia 9300
• Nokia 9500

UPDATE: Since installing this, I've noticed that it slows down the phone (6630), which shouldn't be surprising to those that have used Norton's.

There is a virus going around that sends txt messages to pay for companys. there is also a virus that ends your calls after 30sec. This is not a joke, Symbian software is a high target for viruses. The better software gets, the more easy it is to make a virus for it. use your head and don't install untrusted software!

Hey guys, I've read about all the complaining regarding viruses. Anyone who thinks he(or she) has a virus just go to "application Manager" & check for any unknown applcation installed & then remove it. If you can't find any, go to "file manager" & look for any wierd files. If you're not sure if it is the virus, click "view details". Check the date it was installed & if it wasn't installed by you then simply delete it. In future DO NOT open any unknown MMS's & install them. Antivirus softwares aren't very accurate, I have Norton myself & I still get virus attacks on my phone. So it's up to you to be careful. Contact me if you have any other problems.

Hi Ama, mail me if you want Symantec AV or F-Secure AV for your mobile. By the way, "CommWarrior" can be manually removed from your "file manager"(it happened to me too!).

Guys please DO NOT keep your Bluetooth on all the time. Switch it off when not needed. You're making it life EXTREMELY easy for viruses!

Hey all, it seems like there has been alot of requests for free AV software. Unfortunately, I don't have the solution for free software, but what you can do is check out F-Secure's website and install the trial version of their mobile software. There are also tools on that site for removing and/or repairing your phone if it is in fact infected.

I'm still amazed that so many of you got caught out by these trojan apps, mind you! Just don't get caught again! 8-)
