Avantgo and the Nokia 6630

by Darla

Avantgo003After having such a tough time trying to figure out why Avantgo wouldn't work on the 6600 I decided to just not think about it and just use it on the N-Gage.  Seems like Avantgo left off with the 3650 and 7650 according to its site.  I decided today to give it a shot on Charlie and low and behold it works!!!

Having thought that my poor Avantgo account had been dormant I was proud that I had  drank enough Ginseng tea to remember my login information.

Installation was no problem at all, mind you I was keeping fingers crossed the whole time.  Once installed and I ran the software it came time to connect to Avantgo's servers and sync.  I used T-Mobile's VPN instead of T-Zones.  Syncing worked, and there were my channels!!!!!  I opened each one to see if everything worked ok and that Charlie could handle it without freezing or shutting down.  I'm happy to say that it works well.

Since I know this might be an issue, the fw that I have is 2.39.15.

Hi Darla;

You said "I used T-Mobile's VPN instead of T-Zones."

Is this because T-Zones will not work? I have the $4.99 tzones plan, but not the full $19.95 internet plan. When I get to the sync step on my 6620, it just tries for a while, times out & drops me back to the sync screen ???

Help///

Darla

BikeDog,

Do you get a connection error message, like 34 or something? I tried using T-Zones and it worked fine for me. Also, when syncing you have to makr off those boxes that are next to the channels that you have listed. Try that and let me know what happens.

Dreamcore

Haven't gotten the first sync to work yet on my QD with T-Mobile (USA) and $4.99 t-zones.

After "Looking up the server" and "Connecting to server" for quite a while, I get:

Error 5471: The server did not respond to the connection request.

I tried filling out the Connection settings with the usual proxy info: 216.155.165.50 port 8080, Use HTTP Auth: No, user: nokia, password: none...

Same result.

Darla

Dreamcore,

It might be because of the $4.99 T-Zones. I think you need the $19.99 add on in order to access Avantgo.
